The Pinnacle of Atlantic Salmon Luxury
Situated in the beautiful, agricultural valley of Langidalur in Northwest Iceland, Long Valley Lodge (also known by its traditional location name, Hólahvarf) overlooks the roaring waters of the mighty Blanda River. Built to accommodate the most discerning international fly fishermen, this state-of-the-art facility brings Scandinavian lodge architecture and premium wellness amenities directly to the edge of one of Iceland's most prolific Atlantic Salmon rivers.
The Blanda River is famous for producing powerful multi-winter salmon. These ocean-bright, heavily-bodied salmon enter the river early in the summer, charging up deep gravel pools and dramatic canyons. Under Fish Partner's management, the beats are fished with low rod-pressure and strictly managed under a highly structured catch-and-release program to preserve the wild, healthy genetics of this ancient species.
The Northwestern Fisheries
Anglers staying at Long Valley Lodge have direct access to highly varied salmon beats along the Blanda system and its intimate, pristine tributaries:
Blanda Beats I & II
Powerful gravel runs and wide pools where salmon rest after leaving the ocean. Excellent waters for double-handed swinging and technical sink-tips.
Blanda Canyon (Beat IV)
A breathtaking, steep basalt canyon beat. Requires short hiking descents, offering highly dramatic sight-fishing in deep, turquoise volcanic pools.
Svartá River
A crystal-clear, intimate spring-fed tributary. Perfect for light single-handed rods and delicate hitch-fishing for aggressive salmon and wild trout.
The Lodge & Wellness Experience
Long Valley Lodge features 12 spacious, private double and twin rooms, each equipped with its own luxurious en-suite bathroom. After a long day wading in the Blanda, guests can relax on our expansive, multi-tiered outdoor wooden deck, steam in the Scandinavian wood-fired sauna, or soak in the large geothermal hot tub under the sub-Arctic twilight.
Gastronomy at Long Valley is managed by our international culinary team. Guests are treated to gourmet breakfasts, a multi-course hot lunch at the lodge (or custom packed for remote canyons), and fine-dining dinners featuring fresh Atlantic seafood, organic vegetables, and local Icelandic beef, complemented by a curated selection of fine wines and premium spirits.
